For the second consecutive year, GigaOm has positioned Vertica in the “leader’s circle” of its Radar Report for Data Warehouses. In the report – “a forward-looking analysis that plots the relative value and progression of vendor solutions along multiple axes based on strategy and execution” – GigaOm scored Vertica with all “exceptional” or “capable” ratings across key criteria and evaluation metrics, securing a position in the “leader’s circle” once again among the 10 participating vendors.
According to GigaOm, “vendors that are set closer to center [are] judged to be of higher overall value.”
There are two key axes in the chart below – Maturity versus Innovation, and Feature Play versus Platform Play. The arrow projects each solution’s evolution over the coming 12 to 18 months.
Vertica Receives Exceptional Scores for Deployment Flexibility and More
Vertica received exceptional scores – defined as “outstanding focus and execution” – for:
- Security and governance
- Data lake integrations
- BI capabilities and integrations
- Extensibility
- Deployment flexibility
GigaOm also commended Vertica as an “overall robust platform” that boasts deep built-in ML capabilities and extensibility, as supported by a range of ML algorithms and functions for data prep, evaluation, prediction, and supervised and unsupervised learning. Developers can also use Vertica’s extensible framework to create user-defined functions with R, Java, C/C++, Python, and SQL.
