Monitoring Subclusters in MC

Subclusters are available in Eon mode databases only, for managing workloads and resource utilization. MC makes it easy to view and monitor your subclusters, so that you can track how queries are performing and how well your subcluster resources are balanced. Your MC or Vertica administrator can use the information to make adjustments if necessary to improve your query throughput and system performance.

The charts on the Database Overview page allow you to view and drill down into the resource usage of all nodes, all subclusters, individual subclusters, or the unassigned nodes. For details, see Charting Subcluster Resource Usage in MC.

You can view statistics for the individual nodes in each subcluster, and the unassigned nodes, in table format on the Database Manage page, in the Subclusters tab. The Subclusters tab also provides node actions. See Viewing Subcluster Layout in MC. Note that if you create a subcluster but you do not assign any nodes to it, that subcluster will not display on the Database Manage page Subclusters tab.
