Management Console

In-Browser Upgrade of Management Console (MC) and Eon Mode Databases on AWS

You can now upgrade Management Console to the newest Vertica version through the MC interface if MC is running on an AWS environment.

You can upgrade using the new step-by-step upgrade wizard, avaiilable through Management Console Settings. Simply enter your AWS credentials, then choose a new version and settings for the instance on which MC will run. A new version of MC will be provisioned onto a new AWS instance.

After you upgrade MC, you can automatically upgrade any database running in Eon Mode to the same version simply by reviving the database from the newly upgraded MC.

Add Multiple Instances at Once to a Cluster on AWS

If you launched Management Console from the AWS Marketplace using AWS resources, MC offers cluster management operations that are specific to the cloud. Using MC, you could previously add AWS instances to your cluster one at a time; now, you can add up to 10 at once from the cluster management page.

Improving the Eon Mode Database Revive Process

When you stop an Eon Mode database, and even after you terminate the clusters it resided on, its data is preserved in communal storage and you can later revive the database in a new cluster.

If you decide to terminate an Eon Mode database cluster and revive it later, this previously took four separate actions to perform in MC: stop the database; terminate the cluster; provision and revive the database cluster; and start the database.

This is now streamlined into two steps. When you terminate a cluster with an Eon Mode database on it using MC, you are given the option to simultaneously stop the database. And when you revive the database on a newly provisioned cluster using the Revive wizard, MC automatically starts the database after the revive process succeeds.
