Amazon Linux 2 (AL2) is the latest Amazon Linux optimized for the use of AWS EC2 and provides a secure, stable, and high performance execution environment to develop and run cloud and enterprise applications. According to Gartner, Amazon Linux is the largest population of Linux instance in AWS. With AL2, customers get an application environment that offers long term support with access to the latest innovations in the Linux ecosystem. AL2 is provided at no additional charge. The ISV validation for Amazon Linux 2 aims to build a robust and trusted ISV ecosystem on AL2. It is a simple process designed to strike the balance of quality assurance and developer’s effort to test. What we are asking for is 1) ISVs test their software on AL2 against a checklist provided (self-validation) and 2) ISVs publish a support statement that they will support their software running on AL2. Upon completion of these requirements, we will publish the ISV logo on AL2 website to ensure visibility. Through this validation process, customers will have the highest degree of confidence using the third-party software on AL2 when the software is validated. This will open doors for ISVs to AWS customers.
