AWS Cloud and Vertica Future Looks Bright

The Vertica team is excited to share that we have achieved the Amazon Linux 2 Ready designation as part of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Service Ready Program. The AWS Service Ready Program is designed to help customers identify products that integrate with AWS services in order to quickly evaluate tools that run on AWS services.

Vertica made its debut on AWS Marketplace way back in 2012, as we recognized that more and more of our customers would (rightly) have to consider a “Cloud First” strategy – that is, that Public Cloud IaaS must be the first infrastructure consideration for new workloads, and every effort must be made to lift-and-shift legacy workloads to one of the Public Clouds. In the years since, we’ve seen our decision to embrace the Cloud pay off, as customers like Philips, and The Climate Corporation have chosen to deploy Vertica in AWS.

Most companies have at least dipped their toes into the cloud – RightScale’s 2019 State of the Cloud Report reveals that 94% of respondents use cloud in some form. Even in highly regulated industries, the question is no longer “if” but “when” they’ll make the move to the cloud. Yet the traditional fears remain – managing cloud spend, lack of resources & expertise, and cloud migration are all among the top challenges organizations face in their cloud journey.

For those companies, Vertica on Amazon Linux 2 through the AWS Service Ready Program makes a lot of sense. With full support for Amazon Linux 2, deep integration with the core components of the AWS ecosystem, and blazing fast SQL analytics regardless of scale or complexity, customers can rest assured that they can meet their analytics objectives with Vertica in AWS.
