Vertica is looking for outstanding software developers, QA engineers, and technical writers, full-time and summer interns, to work in our Cambridge, MA and Pittsburgh, PA offices. You’ll have the opportunity to add your innovative ideas to our flagship product: a very large-scale database. THINK BIG! If you like to noodle over algorithms, hate to see idle CPUs, can deliver high-quality code, typically in C++, Java, or Python, and in general, like to make software that is robust and fast, then contact us. If you’re interested in designing and coding complex automation to test our high-performance database at scale and under stress and implementing performance and functional testing of very large clusters in the cloud, come work with our talented QA engineers. If you love getting hands-on with state-of-the-art technology, working with a top-notch engineering team, and distilling challenging concepts into a compelling story for users, talk with our experienced technical documentation team. In all of these positions, you will work with a collaborative technical team, solving challenging problems that are crucial to the scale and performance of the Vertica Analytic Database. And you will work with other Big Data crunchers to integrate Vertica with tools like HDFS, Kafka, Spark, Tensorflow, and the cloud. A LITTLE ABOUT US Vertica is a leading Big Data database that routinely handles petabytes of data and processes tens of terabytes per hour. Vertica was founded by MIT professor, Big Data guru, and Turing Award winner Michael Stonebraker. We maintain strong relationships with the academic community by presenting our work at leading academic and industry conferences, and make significant contributions to the open source community. Vertica maintains a startup-like culture, operating independently from our parent company, Micro Focus. But we benefit from the resources of a mature company. The core engineering team remains small and sharp. We deal with bleeding-edge problems, discover industry-leading solutions, and have fun doing it. Employees enjoy Bagel Thursdays, board game nights, Halloween pumpkin carving, community service, and team outings. There are always opportunities to interact outside of work. Vertica supports diversity in the workplace with our DataGals group. This group organizes monthly events about diversity issues in technology organizations. Our Cambridge office is located one block from the Alewife MBTA station, an easy subway ride to Harvard Square and downtown Boston. Our Pittsburgh office is located at Nova Place, an innovation space on the North Shore. Don’t take our word for it. Check out our website and read some of our blogs. They’ll give you a flavor of what we do and who we are. Vertica is THE place to work on databases, distributed systems, analytics, and machine learning.
