Christopher Lynch President & CEO
Christopher Lynch, former Senior Vice President of Data Solutions, F5 Networks joined from its acquisition of Acopia Networks, where he was CEO. He joined Acopia Networks from Cisco Systems where he was Vice President of Worldwide Content Delivery Networking Sales. There he led Cisco to a leadership position in the content delivery market. Previously, he was Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Marketing and Support at ArrowPoint Communications.
Lynch was instrumental in ArrowPoint's IPO, leading an organization that grew revenues from zero to a $250 million sales annualized run-rate over 18 months and established 60 sales and support offices worldwide. ArrowPoint
was subsequently acquired by Cisco Systems for $5.7 billion in June of 2000.
Prior to ArrowPoint, Lynch was Vice President of North and South American Sales for Lucent Technologies Gigabit Ethernet Products Unit, where over a seven-month period he built a sales and channels organization that generated revenue at an annualized run-rate of $40 million. He joined Lucent from Prominet Corporation after Prominet was acquired by Lucent for $200 million in January 1998. With 25 years in the technology industry, Lynch has also held sales leadership positions at Bay Networks, Wellfleet Communications and Digital Equipment Corporation. He earned his MBA from Bentley College and his Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Suffolk University.

Mike Hughes CFO
Mike brings over twenty years of business experience to Vertica. A veteran financial and operational leader, Mike has been CFO of a number of private and public high tech companies. His experience includes public offerings, mergers, acquisitions, and extensive general management.
Mike joined Vertica from Exit41, Inc., where he was CFO and leader of the company’s operations and service organizations. Exit41 is a software company that developed innovative customer ordering systems for the restaurant industry. Prior to Exit41, Mike was CFO of Gotham Networks, a communications equipment supplier.
Mike was also CFO of iBasis (NASDAQ: IBAS), a Voice-over-IP provider that is one of the world’s largest carriers of international telephone calls and operates facilities in over 100 countries. Mike raised over $600 million in both private and public funding and led the company through a highly successful IPO as well as a significant strategic acquisition.
Prior to joining iBasis, he was Director of Finance at Teleport Communications Group (TCG), a national provider of telecommunications services that was acquired by AT&T. Previously, he held various financial positions at Houghton Mifflin Company and served as an auditor at KPMG.
Mike received a B.S. in accounting from Bentley College and an M.B.A. in finance from Babson College. He also practiced as a Certified Public Accountant.

Tom O'Connell VP North American Sales
With more than 20 years of experience in the software industry, Tom O'Connell brings significant sales and business development experience to Vertica. O'Connell joins Vertica from XOsoft, Inc. where he was President and a member of the Board of Directors. During his four years at XOsoft, the company experienced significant growth achieving an average of 25% quarterly revenue growth for 16 consecutive quarters.
XOsoft was considered to be the fastest growing software company in the high availability and business continuity market exceeding 2,500 customers within this 4 year period and receiving multiple product excellence awards. During this same period, the number of employees also doubled each year. Because of this success, the company was acquired by CA, Inc. to complement their solutions in the back up and recovery market.
O'Connell has established a successful career in technology companies with great people and innovative products. Prior to XOsoft, he held executive and sales management positions at leading high tech companies such as Exchange Applications (acquired by Amdocs), Sybase, Inc., Oracle Corporation and Digital Equipment Corporation (now HP). In these roles, he created and managed both direct and channel sales networks, specializing in enterprise software solutions and provided significant contributions to program development and revenue growth.
O'Connell earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University with a concentration in Marketing.

Jennifer Sullivan VP Marketing
Jennifer Sullivan brings over 19 years of broad marketing experience to her role as Vice President, Marketing at Vertica where she is tasked with increasing the company’s footprint, expanding market share and generating revenue.
Prior to joining Vertica, Jennifer was the Chief Marketing Officer at Ounce Labs, a leader in the application security space, whose software enabled companies to reduce the risks and costs associated with security and compliance. While at Ounce, she led the corporate branding and go-to-market strategies and worked on the successful acquisition of Ounce by IBM in 2009 after which she worked as part of the integration team.
Previously, she worked at Plateau Systems, where she served as Vice President, Demand Generation with a focus on expanding market engagement in Plateau's unified Talent Management suite. Her experience also includes over seven years as Senior Director for marketing, inside sales and operations at Unica Corporation where her team delivered 50 percent of the company's core Enterprise Marketing Management business and 80 percent of its then newly acquired web analytics business. During her tenure, Unica began as a privately-held, sub-$5M company, enjoyed a successful IPO in 2005, and had grown revenues to over $100M at the time she left in 2007.
Jennifer held several senior marketing leadership positions at RSA Security, iMarket and Epsilon. She earned an MBA in Entrepreneurship from Babson College and a BA in International Relations from Boston University.

Shilpa Lawande VP Engineering
Shilpa Lawande has been an integral part of the Vertica engineering team since its inception, bringing over 10 years of experience in databases, data warehousing and grid computing to Vertica. Prior to Vertica, she was a key member of the Oracle Server Technologies group where she worked directly on several data warehousing and self-managing features in the Oracle 9i and 10g databases.
Lawande is a co-inventor on several patents on query optimization, materialized views and automatic index tuning for databases. She has also co-authored two books on data warehousing using the Oracle database as well as a book on Enterprise Grid Computing.
Lawande has a Masters in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelors in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai.

Colin Mahony VP Products & Business Development
Colin Mahony has been involved with Vertica Systems from the beginning, first as an investor at Bessemer Venture Partners, and now running Business Development and Alliances. Colin has over 12 years experience in the high tech industry, and he brings a combination of technical knowledge, market intelligence, and deal experience. Colin is responsible for Vertica's indirect business with OEMs and system integrators, in addition to Vertica's complementary technology ecosystem.
Prior to Vertica, Colin was a Vice President at Bessemer Venture Partners focused on investments primarily in enterprise software, telecommunications, and digital media. He established a great network and reputation for understanding both the technical and business side of a deal. Prior to Bessemer, Colin worked at Lazard Technology Partners in a similar investor capacity.
Prior to his venture capital experience, Colin was a Senior Analyst at the Yankee Group serving as an industry analyst and consultant covering databases, BI, middleware, application servers and ERP systems. Colin helped build the Internet Computing Strategies practice at Yankee in the late nineties. While at Yankee Colin was quoted in several publications including ComputerWorld, InfoWorld, Business Week, and InformationWeek.
Colin earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a bachelor's degrees in Economics with a minor in Computer Science from Georgetown University.
